THE DREAMER
Linda Bandelier
I’m Linda.
Singing is my best gift. My first memories are of singing for anyone who would listen. I discovered song writing as a young teenager. And as an adult storytelling helped me find confidence for speaking in public and opened doors of opportunities to entertain and educate.
My life and work are woven around song and story. I’ve been able to perform extensively throughout Scotland and the UK and undertake tours in Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, India, South Africa and USA. I was a founding member of the Scottish Storytelling Forum in the early 90s, I served as the Education and Training Officer for the Scottish Storytelling Centre from 2010-2012 and I am a retired minister in the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
I grew up in the American Wild West, married a Scotsman, settled in Edinburgh, savoured the delight of being immersed in traditional song and culture and now consider the UK to be my home for more than 30 years.
I’ve always enjoyed turning my hand to new challenges and in 2012 I moved aboard a 54ft cutter-rigged ketch sailboat. It offered an opportunity to travel, meet people and learn new skills (I can now mend sails, repair fibreglass, and install an autopilot). The vessel is currently undergoing refurbishment and further development to enable it to go worldwide as a home base and mobile gathering place for stories, songs and friendship.
