JEKYLL ISLAND GIRL
We first met on vacation when we were only six
Eating ice cream on the beach and playing games with sticks.
Fishing off the pier and digging in the sand
She was my best friend in the world.
She was the Jekyll Island Girl.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. I love the Jekyll Island Girl.
It was only four years later when we met again
Watching dolphins from a boat. Fishing from the sand.
Sliding down the Summer Waves and walking hand in hand
We promised we would be the best of friends
Even if we never met again.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. I love the Jekyll Island Girl.
I saw a pretty waitress when I was 21
I was hanging out with college friends and looking for some fun.
We gave her such a hard time but when she looked my way
I thought I had a chance with her then I heard her say.
Do you still like ice cream after all these years?
Building castles in the sand and fishing from the pier
Sliding down the Summer Waves and walking hand in hand
You’re nothing like the friend I used to know.
And now it’s time for all of you to go.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. I love the Jekyll Island Girl.
I can’t believe I found her and lost her that same day
But acting like a total jerk is really not the way
It won’t impress someone you love. What more can I say?
I’ll do my best to win her back again.
I hope this isn’t where our story ends.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl.
Oo, oo, Jekyll Island Girl. I love the Jekyll Island Girl.

This song started with just the chorus which stuck in my head and, unfortunately for those around me, on my lips for weeks while I mused over possible story lines. A good love song, like a good story needs a twist in the tale.
