MOUNTAIN LULLABY

To the steady rhythm of a golden eagle’s wing
Rock the wooden sluices in a clear Montana stream.
Shoo, shoo, rock-a-by-by.
Rock to the rhythm of a mountain lullaby.
Shoo, shoo, rock-a-by dream
Daddy seeks his fortune in a clear Montana stream.

River water rushes through a wooden box of sand.
Was away the worthless leave gold dust in his hand.
Shoo, shoo, rock-a-by-by.
Rock to the rhythm of a mountain lullaby.
Shoo, shoo, rock-a-by dream
Daddy seeks his fortune in a clear Montana stream.

Solitary woman at the bidding of her man
Comes to wealth or poverty in this distant mountain land.
Shoo, shoo, rock-a-by-by.
Rock to the rhythm of a mountain lullaby.
Shoo, shoo, rock-a-by dream
Daddy seeks his fortune in a clear Montana stream.
